Questions & answers

The questions homeowners actually ask.

The questions homeowners actually ask us, in the order they tend to ask them — from "is this a job for you?" through to "where do you work and when can you start?"

Stage

Before you decide

What kind of work do you take on?

Four main things: bespoke single- and multi-storey extensions; full property renovations — including kitchens with structural bearing-wall removal, bathrooms, ground floors and whole-apartment refurbishments; loft, garage, annex and basement conversions; and tiled patios and water features. We work across Ascot and the surrounding Berkshire area.

Can you remove a load-bearing wall to open up a kitchen?

Yes — it's work we're reviewed for. As Abby Page wrote, "Buckhurst Construction recently remodelled our kitchen including removing a bearing wall. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and we are delighted with the result." We handle the structural side and the fit-out together, with the calculations and building control in place.

Do you work on period and character properties?

We do — much of our work is on character homes, including timber-framed and rendered period properties. Extending or renovating them means matching new work to old, from brickwork and oak framing to the way an extension joins the existing house, so the result reads as part of the home.

Who does the work

Who will be running my project?

William Hulbert, who leads the company, runs each project himself — the first site visit, the plan, the build and the handover — with his team. Clients describe him as "extremely knowledgeable," "very professional, and easy to deal with," and note that "his team is professional, friendly, and personable."

Are you a registered, accredited company?

Yes. Buckhurst Construction Ltd is a registered limited company (Companies House no. 14328847), a member of the Federation of Master Builders, and registered with Checkatrade as buckhurstconstructionltd. It's independent accountability behind our 4.8-star Google reviews.

How a project runs

Will I be kept informed during the build?

Yes — it's one of the things clients single out. Lukasz Sketzie wrote: "Every day throughout this journey I was kept updated with plans etc and time frames on when it would be finished." You're told the plan and the timescale up front and kept updated as the work moves.

Do you work with architects and designers?

We do. Where a project already has an architect, structural engineer or designer, we build to their drawings and work alongside them. Where it doesn't, we can guide you to the input a project needs and to trusted local trades and merchants.

Areas & availability

Which areas do you cover?

We're based at West Lodge in Ascot and work throughout the town and the surrounding Berkshire area — Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Windsor, Bracknell, Virginia Water, Winkfield, Wentworth and North Ascot among them. If you're nearby and not listed, just ask.

What are your hours, and how do I get started?

We're contactable Monday to Saturday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, and closed Sundays. The best way to start is to call William on 01628 337596 or send a message with a few details, and he'll arrange to come and take a look.

Still have a question?

Ask William directly — there's no charge for a chat or a site visit.
