Turning lofts, garages, annexes and basements into usable rooms
Most homes hold space that isn't earning its keep — an empty loft, a garage used for storage, a basement, or room for a self-contained annex. Converting it is usually far better value than moving, but it has to be built to be lived in: insulation, damp, ventilation, heating, fire safety and a floor structure fit for the new use.
